Nadal fightback held up by rain

  • Rafael Nadal 'A lot of players should have won a Major but they didn't'

Rafael Nadal's grip on the French Open title was in danger of being loosened by the unlikely figure of Diego Schwartzman.

Marin Cilic and Juan Martin del Potro were locked at 5-5 in a first-set tie-break when their quarter-final was suspended.

That game had a 40-15 lead for Schwartzman, a brilliant Nadal drop volley that rubbed out the second set point, a Nadal break point, a attractive duo of Schwartzman overheads for a third set point and, just then, after a first-serve fault, a spectator in the 15th row apparently fainting.

Nadal patted Marterer sympathetically on the chest at the net after winning on his second match point.

A rescued break point in the opening game of the third was further evidence of Marterer's fortitude and Nadal was guilty of losing focus, smashing a routine forehand into the tramlines to go 3-1 down.

A fearless Schwartzman took inspiration from David and Goliath as he fought back from two sets down to beat Kevin Anderson in the fourth round and slayed Nadal - who struggled on serve and returned poorly - in the first set.

The data center that went under is essentially a 40-foot long tank that's packed with 12 racks and a total of 864 servers. Why take all this effort to dunk data centers underwater? Then the company will let some customers use the data center.

The Spaniard looked to be just a couple of points away from taking the second set when play was halted for the last time, however, serving with a 5-3 and 30-15 lead.

They will return on Thursday morning.

Kasatkina will face US Open victor Sloane Stephens for a place in the semifinals.

"I was up against a great player so I had to make sure I brought my best tennis".

The Romanian broke serve six times against a player who made the semi-finals at the Australian Open in January.

"But today was certainly not one of those steps". As the game was stopped for two minutes, Schwartzman walked back to his mark, amidst a huge cheer from the crowd, and took a set off the King.
