After reportedly enduring months of online abuse from some angry Star Wars fans, actress Kelly Marie Tran has allegedly chose to delete all of her Instagram photos.

I totally embarrassingly fanned out when I met Kelly Marie Tran. On "Wookieepedia", a Star Wars-oriented website, someone changed the description of Rose Tico to include offensive and racist language. The user also attributed a fake quote to Rose: "Heil Hitler and I don't know why I was casted in a good movie like Star Wars". After a Facebook post using the hashtag #stoptheviolence, responding to the Orlando nightclub shooting that killed 49 people, Daisy Ridley deleted her social media accounts in response to a deluge of pro-gun anger.

Meanwhile, Tran has since been receiving an outpouring of support from her fans and followers.

Tran isn't the first Star Wars cast member to be driven from social media.

While it's truly disheartening that Tran has had to erase everything on her Instagram account to escape from the cruelty, it is at least nice to see that Tran has taken some actions to make things in her life more positive.

Since the installment's December 2017 release, she has reportedly been subjected to months of sexist and racist comments. She said she found social media interaction to be "bad for her mental health".

'And I didn't sign up for people to go, "You're incredible!" Social media may be even more efficient than Darth Vader in bringing people over to the dark side.

"'I'm just not equipped for [Instagram]", she said, adding that she never opened a Twitter account.

"I was at [the Teen Choice Awards] and people weren't nice about how I looked". "I'm super sensitive - not too sensitive - but I really feel things".
