  • Russia and Israel 'reach a deal' with Assad on Syrian territory

"So, they attacked those bases, and they destroyed a big part of our air defenses", he said, arguing that Israel continues to take advantage of that to this day.

He said his regime "started now opening doors for negotiations" with them but "this is the first option".

General McKenzie said the status quo around Tanf area- where Iran and pro-Assad forces clashed in the past- remains unchanged.

Bashar al Assad has reacted to being called "Animal Assad" by US President Donald Trump with a phrase usually heard in school playgrounds.

Assad further urged the U.S. to "to learn the lesson" from Iraq, saying, "People will not accept foreigners in this region anymore".

"We don't have any other option".

"The starkest fact about their (the Israelis') lies about this issue, the Iranian issue, is the recent attack a few weeks ago", he said.

"We need the Russian support, but we need at the same time to avoid the American foolishness in order to be able to stabilise our country".

Lieberman's Russian counterpart, Sergei Shoigu, said on Thursday the two need to discuss the situation in southwestern Syria, along its border with Israel.

Donald Trump holds summit with Kim (Kardashian West)
In the heartfelt call, Kardashian West wished Johnson a happy birthday, and said warmly, "You would have been proud of us today". Trump has the power to decide whether or not to pardon Johnson, but there has been no indicated yet as to what he will do.

Assad also stated that Trump's invention of an insulting nickname did not move him or Syria in the slightest.

If that does not work, Assad said he would "resort to liberating those areas by force". "People will not accept foreigners in this region anymore", Reuters quoted Assad as telling RT.

U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said on April 30 the United States and its allies would not want to pull troops out of Syria before diplomats win the peace.

"This is not my language, so, I can not use similar language".

He added: "I think there is a very known principle, that what you say is what you are".

It added that "any force or members belonging to the Iranian forces, the Lebanese Hezbollah and their affiliated militia will not enter, and the border points will be handed over to the regime's police and its border guards, and also the area will be managed by local councils that will be formed from residents of the area".

In an interview with pro-Putin news channel Russia Today, the Syrian dictator also claimed he will recover areas held by US -backed militia "within a year". "So we are supporting any worldwide mechanism that could limit the influence of Iran in the region in general, and in our country in particular", he added.

If Bashar Assad is winning the hearts of the surviving Syrians, he did it by stopping a horrific amount of hearts and driving 13 million people out of their homes, half of them leaving the country entirely.

Assad also said that a confrontation between Russian Federation and USA forces over Syria was narrowly avoided. The same can not be said for the US-coalition's presence, nor that of Israel.
