Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich scrapped plans for a major revamp of Chelsea Football Club's stadium, days after the renewal of his United Kingdom visa was delayed. No further pre-construction design and planning work will occur.

The stadium decision has led to suggestions Abramovich is ready to sell Chelsea, but The Times say this is not the case, with the west London club insisting the 51-year-old remains committed.

Since Abramovich submitted the renewal, there has been plenty of speculations as to why the UK Government are delaying issuing his visa.

Abramovich bought Chelsea in 2003, and proceeded to plow millions into the development of the team.

Talks have been held regarding replacing Conte with Sarri, but Chelsea have been unwilling to pay compensation to Napoli after the Italian club appointed Carlo Ancelotti.
