  • Sleeping in saves lives

The study found that individuals younger than 65 who slept for fewer than 5 hours per night the entire week faced a 52% higher mortality rate.

Researchers in Sweden looked at sleep data covering more than 43,000 people.

"The mortality rate among participants with short sleep during weekdays, but long sleep during weekends, did not differ from the rate of the reference group", the study summary says.

On the flip side, those who slept more than eight hours a night had higher mortality rates as well.

The effect only applied to those under 65 as the mortality difference disappeared for people who were older.

Klay Thompson reveals Warriors challenge after Game 6 Rockets win
They were in a valley of despair, down 17 points, and fought way up the hill to the sunshine and blue sky and refreshing breeze. Draymond Green had six assists, Curry had six, Durant had four and six other Warriors recorded at least one assist.

A recent study by Brigham and Women's Hospital has confirmed that sleep deprivation negatively impacts your work performance even when you do not feel exhausted.

But Dr Stuart Peirson, an expert on the human "body clock" but who was not involved in the research, said the study offered a more nuanced view than previous research, which had suggested that both very little or a lot of sleep was bad for health and longevity. "If you can function on what you get, you are likely getting the right amount of sleep", Åkerstedt noted. They might sleep six hours or slightly less. This study was not an experiment, Akerstedt emphasized, and these data can not show that short or long sleep is responsible for higher mortality.

It's not so much about being able to store up sleep, but he thinks short sleepers who are changing their habits on the weekends are making up for some of what they lost during the week.
