A 25-year-old basketball-loving man from Texas was arrested this past Friday, accused of posing as a student in order to play hoops at a Dallas high school.

Sidney Bouvier Gilstrap-Portley claimed to be a Hurricane Harvey refugee when he enrolled as Rashun Richardson at Skyline High School.

Gilstrap-Portley fully immersed himself in the high school scene, going so far as to date a 14-year-old classmate, according to the girl's mother.

The source said Gilstrap-Portley was discovered as an imposter when his former coach saw him playing for Hillcrest.

"I hadn't heard anything about it", said Christina Lagoda, a parent.

He enrolled as a freshman and got away with it the entire year, until just a few weeks ago when someone recognized him.

"We have some liberal policies for homeless students, but he knew that".

School officials, meanwhile, notified parents of the freaky incident in a letter Monday and vowed to review the district's policies, KXAS reports.

"We believe it is absolutely essential that every young person, especially in times of great difficulty, feels safe and secure, and that was the guiding principle when we were welcoming students displaced by the hurricane", Bayer said. The mother said she never approved of someone she thought was 17 dating her daughter and even addressed her concerns directly to him, and while she said he was "respectful" to her, he claimed he "didn't see a problem" with the relationship.

'If it's happening at Hillcrest, then it could be happening somewhere else.

She added: 'I'm upset, frustrated, angry and sad at the same time. "And he took advantage of this opportunity to enroll in Hillcrest", Dallas ISD Superintendent Michael Hinojosa said. "It could have gone differently if he had other intentions to hurt her or to traffic her".

Ah, high school. So many memories.

In reality, Gilstrap-Portley graduated from suburban North Mesquite High School in 2011, an unidentified source told WFAA. He was taken into custody at the Dallas County Jail but has since been released after posting bail.
