NBC Says Matt Lauer Investigation Found No Wrongdoing by Management

  • That story was the beginning of Weinstein's downfall and followed soon after by the release of McGowan's memoir Brave

The probe found no culture of sexual harassment in NBC's news division, now that Lauer is gone. The team interviewed 68 past and present NBC staffers and reviewed Lauer's emails and text messages, along with those of Today show leadership.

The report also attempted to clear up the drama surrounding the desk button in Lauer's office. According to these women, Lauer did not pursue them further when they deflected or ignored the overture, and they did not experience any retaliation.

The seven-page report of the investigation was released about five months after Lauer's November 28 ouster from the show where he spent two decades as a star reporter.

NBC News chairman Andy Lack addressed the investigation's findings and laid out next steps for a safer work environment in an internal memo to employees. "What we can do is learn from it, and try to make it right", Lack told employees in an email Wednesday morning.

NBC's ideological colleagues throughout the establishment media - CNN, New York Times, Washington Post, etc., will allow NBC to turn the page on this scandal, using the fig leaf of this whitewash. "In the course of the interview, Lauer admitted to participating in sexual exercise with the complainant".

"On November 28, 2017, Lauer was interviewed by senior members of NBCUniversal company HR and Authorized", continues the report. He was sacked that day. Their allegations dated to 2000, 2001 and 2007, the report said.

Tully review: Charlize Theron carries the mother load in bitter-sweet comedy
Actress Charlize Theron teamed up with director Jason Reitman for their new film " Tully " about the struggles of motherhood . A mother of two toddlers with another about to be born, Marlo (Theron) is stressed out to the point of totally loosing it.

The report stated that the investigation turned up no evidence that leadership at NBC News, Today or human resources "received complaints" about Lauer's "workplace behavior prior to November 27, 2017". NBCUniversal Legal department records and HR records for both NBCUniversal and the News Division were reviewed, together with records from the Comcast NBCUniversal complaint helplines and web portal, to determine whether there were any prior complaints about Lauer. In November, an employee filed a formal complaint to NBC News about his "inappropriate sexual behavior" and three other women also came forward with similar allegations.

One of the women said that Lauer put his hand on her thigh and made a sexual comment. According to the report, the manager recalled the conversation, but stated that she did not recall reporting the interaction to anyone. In that article, Curry said she had told NBC leaders in 2012 about Lauer's misconduct after a staffer confided in her that she was "sexually harassed physically".

"The investigation team remains interested in hearing from these women and others who may have related information to share", the report says in a footnote. "But that history also includes a time when people were not comfortable coming forward to voice complaints about repugnant behavior".

"A number of individuals interviewed said that Lauer could be flirtatious, would frequently make jokes, some with sexual overtones, and would openly engage in sexually-oriented banter in the workplace". "I told management they had a problem and they needed to keep an eye on him and how he deals with women", she said.

The company said it remains interested in hearing from other women who experienced sexual misconduct by Lauer.

However, the former NBC star says that when the network launched an investigation into Lauer's sexual misconduct, they never contacted her despite reports from the legal team stating otherwise. "My hope is that NBC implements these recommendations and goes beyond them when necessary to change their workplace culture".
