  • Qualcomm Optimizes Chips for New Google Android P Operating System

The San Diego based chip maker said that it has optimised software for some mobile platforms to help OEMs to speedily deliver Android updates on their Snapdragon-based devices. The new unnamed successor to the old Snapdragon Wear 2100 will focus on power consumption and maximize autonomy even with sleek-looking, non-static smartwatches.

Speaking with Wareable, senior director of wearables at Qualcomm Pankaj Kedia confirmed the company is set to announce a new platform for upcoming Wear OS smartwatches. The third-generation SoCs - after the Snapdragon 400 and Snapdragon 2100 - is touted to be designed from the ground up "for a no-compromises smartwatch experience" and include dedicated chips to enable always-on functionality. The new platform will be announced this fall alongside a lead smartwatch, he revealed, and by the holidays several partners will have Wear OS smartwatches with the new chipset on the market. That's something that Qualcomm has been focusing on during the development process for this new chip.

Kedia confirmed some of the key features of the new platform as well as the fact it's the first goal built chips for Wear OS smartwatches.

COD: Black Ops 4 could be Battle.net exclusive on the PC
Call of Duty and Treyarch are planning big changes for Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is reports are to be believed. It shouldn't come as a surprise that the popular Zombies mode will be in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 .

In the past couple of years, there have been a large number of brands that have come on board the Android Wear wagon, most of these are the same watch inside but different design. You can expect all the variants to have WiFi and Bluetooth, but some will also have Global Positioning System and LTE.

Exactly what that flagship watch will be is unclear.

Kedia hinted the first "real" Qualcomm wearable SoC should be smaller and have better battery life. And Kedia is right in that smartwatches look bad when you aren't using them. In relation to battery life, Kedia elaborated further going on to say "You'll see improved battery life when interacting with the watch, but also more importantly, when you're not". It cannot be static when I'm not looking at it; it cannot be black and white when I'm not looking at it, it can.
