"Avengers: Infinity War" is the fastest film to break the 1-billion-U.S. -dollar mark at the global box office. War's sophomore session is the second-best ever for a film's second weekend, surpassed only by the $149 million brought in by Star Wars: The Force Awakens during Christmas week in 2015.
With "Infinity War", Marvel Studios is capping off a decade of storytelling spanning 18 previous movies, an unprecedented feat in Hollywood franchise-building.
In such an unsurprising way that it's nearly not even fun anymore, Avengers:Infinity War continues to rake in big bucks at the box office for both Marvel, and of course, Disney. With its China release to come this Friday, May 11th, it's only a matter of time before Infinity War overtakes 2012's The Avengers to take the title of the highest-grossing superhero movie. If Marvel is ever going to lose to anyone it definitely makes sense it would be a Star Wars film. That bests the 12 days it took Force Awakens.
The comic book film unites the Avengers, the "Guardians of the Galaxy" and several different properties, including "Black Panther" and "Spider-Man" into one blockbuster.

Whether it has what it takes to pass Black Panther near $700 million domestic haul remains to be seen.
Third place went to "A Quiet Place", which has grossed $159.9 million in five weeks in theaters, and fourth place to "I Feel Pretty", now up to $37.8 million in weekend three.
Rounding out the top five is Dwayne Johnson's "Rampage". To date, "Black Panther" has made $693 million in North America.
Strong reviews -86% on Rotten Tomatoes and 76/100 from Metacritic- weren't enough to persuade ticket buyers into checking out the latest feature from Up in the Air director Jason Reitman. The first Avengers fell 50 percent, while Avengers: Age of Ultron fell 59 percent and Captain America: Civil War, declined 60 percent.
Some fans also take this reference back to 1979, just two years after the release of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. It's incredible to see Star Wars fans rally around the spirit of Chewbacca and UNICEF's lifesaving mission.
